Rosie's Villa is very spacious and very clean it was better than we expected , there are mosquito nets on all the doors and windows. Lovely outdoor pool which the kids really enjoyed. All amenities available and every room has air conditioning which we only used some mornings. We had a nice breakfast every morning at Rosie's cafe which is opposite the villa , fantastic views from the cafe too. You need a car to visit the island but the villa is in a great location and not to far from most places. We would definitely stay here again. Great place!

Beautiful

To start, we would firstly have to sum up and say pefect in every way.
Hidden away up in the mountains and off the beaten track is the "beautiful" Rosie Herb House, a 1000 promotional photographs can not do it justice. Everything is to a high standard both inside and out, leaving you feeling you are staying in the lap of luxury.
The villa has a generous front balcony with a seating area which overlooks the main road through Karia. This main road must have 1-2 cars that pass by every day! The view also offers the stunning sunset.
To the side of the balcony is the small but sufficiently sized pool together with 6 sun loungers and another seating area. Part of this area is covered by a sail shade which makes it a lovely area to eat/drink whilst taking in the cool breeze. The villa itself was surrounded by herb gardens and areas where the local donkey is grazing! My kids loved this. They also loved the sounds of the other wildlife in the distance (goats, sheep,cockrels)
Inside the villa it's spotlessly clean (housekeeping visited twice during our 2 week stay). It's very spacious with a large living area and a well equipped kitchen/diner. Just off this is a utility room with a washing machine.
On the upper level there are 3 large bedrooms - 2 double rooms and 1 room with 2 single beds. There is a spacious bathroom and a smaller ensuite.
The whole place is tastefully decorated and kitted out to the highest standard. Rosie really has managed to combine the rustic Greek charm with modern day taste.
We had air-con but rarely needed to use it due to the cool mountain breeze.
Rosie's Herb House is off the beaten track. Without a doubt you will need a car (off road parking is provided) as the nearest supermarket is approx 20 minutes drive away. It's also recommended to appreciate the full beauty Kefalonia has to offer.
Whilst there we visited Assos (a bit disappointing), Myrtos, Fiskardo, Sami and Agia Kiriaki Beach (a lovely quieter & less rocky beach) We also took the hour drive Argostoli early enough to see the loggerhead turtles following the fishing boats into the harbour. This was an amazing sight. We followed onto the very sandy beach of Costa Costa. A very busy beach but offers all the exciting watersports.
This has probably been one of our best holidays ever. It really was made by the charm and warmth of Rosie and her team (Kiki, Mr Rosie & Milo)
She offers a beautiful continental breakfast every day and it's well worth getting up for.

Perfect in every way

I spent a great deal of time looking for the perfect villa and this met all our expectations! This villa is off the beaten track - so you need a car to get around, however, it is perfectly positioned so that you can visit the north of the island and explore all the beautiful bays, giving you so much choice.
The villa was as described with the added benefit of being in the hills which meant less biting insects and a lovely cool breeze making the evenings more bearable. The plunge pool was perfect and needed in the hot weeks were in Kefalonia. The Villa is tastefully decorated and is extremely spacious with three double bedrooms and two large bathrooms. The living space is also large and airy. No issues with water pressure / hot water and the facilities were all as listed (Washing machine, dish washer etc).
Rosie and her family made sure we had water (and wine) for our arrival and Rosie's taverna / cafe just opposite is a little gem of a place! We had breakfast there on a number of mornings as well as afternoon snacks. Rosie's home made Cherry Brandy and herb products / honey are all fantastic and must be tried!
Cleaning was carried out twice whilst we were there and everything was spotless. The view of the sunsets from the terrace and from the taverna / cafe were stunning every evening as you look to the west from the front of the property.
You have to be prepared to travel to get to the coast but this was achievable within 20-30 minutes including Myrtos Bay, Fiskardo, Aghia Efimia, Emblisi to name but a few places. Some were busy and some literally had a handful of people on them. it was also around 15 minutes to the closest shop by car and a couple of tavernas (Makis - is a very popular one).
We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the village 'Karia' and how quiet the roads were in the area. The only thing keeping us awake was some of the wild life (this was not a problem though).
This has to be one of the most perfect holidays we've had.

I highly recommend this villa if you're looking for quality time with family off the beaten track but within a short drive to some of the most beautiful parts of the island.
